Hot Rock was inspired by visiting the family home of great British sculptor Lynn Chadwick. His son Danny Chadwick showed me a giant concrete sofa his father had built that underfloor heating build in it. I used a piece of Portuguese marble and inserted into carved groves in the underside an underfloor heating system I had specially made for me. The system worked so well the Lefevere Gallery had to turn off all their radiators when in was exhibited there in December 2001. The stone has been used asa symbol for mountain, caved womb. It is the eternal mother figure from where we came and to where we return.
