The starting point for this piece  Barbara Hepworth’s 1957 sculpture Icon. It draws on Modernism, Science Fiction and cartoon imagery. The work of Hepworth and other Modernists seems to me to have had great influence on 20th Century design. So I wanted to make a sculpture that implied another use, referring to old TVs and SciFi series. It was exhibited at the Colyer Bristow Gallery as part of the exhibition In Our Time.
