This was one of my first commission for a private client. The idea was to make a sculpture that a child could sit in. So the out stretched arms become a protective canopy. It has always been very important to me that the audience can engage with the sculpture physically. This is not just to create a pleasurable sensory experience. Sculptureā€™s nature is defined by its physicality. That is something shared by humans. So the haptic, touch experience with sculpture mirrors our own existence to us.
