The Tripod series came out of a problem how to keep a sculpture upright. This led me to think about the tripod. But there was also the dual influences of Science Fiction and the British post war sculpture group dubbed The Geometry of Fear group among them Lynn Chadwick, Reg Butler, Eduardo Paolozzi Bill Turnbull and others. The dolorite stone Dhustone is so unworldly with its yellow crust and black interior that they seem to come off some passing asteroid.
