Yo Reina [ I The Queen] was made for the Glyndebourne Opera Festival 2001. It is an interactive rotating sculpture. The sculpture is a development from Nocturnal Stone. My idea was to enlarge the modernist forms such as those of Barbara Hepworth and make it possible to for the audience to climb on them. In this way the boundary between audience and object is broken down. The audience becomes part of the art and the stone acts as a plinth for them. The sculpture is easy to turn and it is a joyful experience. The massive weight moves freely so gravity seem to be overturned.
